Inspiration
Our Digital twins prototypes aims to lead to an application that can understand us.
Imagine that application understands things like your general practitioner preferences or recommends you a specialist when you need one. The app will allow you to check-in to hospitals quicker (without filling always the same forms), order your prescribed medication at a fingertip with your online or on-premise pharmacy
Imagine the app shows your current recovery journey or recommends you based on your daily patterns activities that are beneficial to the budget of your insurance (the more healthier lifestyle you apply, better your rating could be helping to lower your insurance costs)
Imagine handling your health administration with one app that is secure, safe and simple to operate. One app that connects you with hospitals, physiotherapist, pharmacies, doctors and even participating fitness entities.
How we built it
The proposed Digital Twin approach for SWICA operates as follows: • Digital Twin App • Digital Twin Backbone
We met our challengers (SWICA) to clarify a set of questions, we used Interview Technics, Business analysis, brainstorming, prototyping,
The app was built with PostgreSQL, Django, HL7 Soup, Mirth Connect, Anaconda, Visual Studio, Bootstrap, GitHub, UML.
We also used other tools like mmhmm, Jitsi, Google Meet, Zoom, Miro, slack, Lean Value Proposition Canvas
We trained out pitch with Tanya König during a Saturday lunch time pitching contest
Challenges we ran into
- We found only by Saturday lunch time a FE developer(‘War’ for great UX/FE talents)
- Team members having different skill sets and using different tools
- To think from the viewpoints of the different key players involved (e.g., patient, doctor, hospital, etc) and to make them all speak the same language
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- being a diverse team of 5 members (2 women, 3 men) from 4 different countries, 3 different continents working fully remote
- Won food voucher with the pitching challenge Saturday lunchtime
- Managed to get a prototype working that is based on the initial ideas
- mutual support, collaboration and fun
What we learned
- Despite technical challenges the human aspect and diversity helped to overcome those
- Connecting people generates new ideas
- Mindset, perspectives, attitude, commitment
- Importance of time management, working parallel, task distribution and the taking of time breaks
What's next for SWICA Digital Twin
People centered-app (picture with the steps) Although it is Disruptive for today's health care system, it is feasible development, implementation, and actors integration in increments and over time will transform towards a fully digital healthcare handling experience, where the customer stands in the middle of his health journey.
We are convinced that our app is the very first step of of a wider digital transformation to the benefit of the customer (of the Health Insurer like SWICA), patients, doctors, pharmacists, hospitals and many other players who could provide optimised products and services by having access to data; but also for the health insurer SWICA who could easily provide recommendation of a doctor to his client through an ***easy channel that could evolve towards a Platform. This will reinforce customer relationship and build a community as well as target to reduce health costs.
