Inspiration:
My friend and I are big addicts to sweets and coding so we decided to combine our passions to make a dessert app! We have had previous experience with app making. For instance, we placed 2nd in a coding competition creating a cooking app using MIT App Inventor. This time we wanted to create a dessert recipe website for bakers interested in exploring and sharing recipes. We wanted to use what we learned from our previous experiences and create a unique website using the skills we have while also learning more about and diving into the world of website development!!
What it does:
Our app features an AI chat bot that assists you with baking, a recipe customizer to customize recipes for you, and a interactive community to share your recipes. Users can collaborate through the community tab which highlights achievements and motivates bakers to improve their baking skills and learn more. Users can also share a variety of recipes which increase collaboration and knowledge sharing throughout the community. There is a marketplace which currently sells resources for bakers.
How we built it:
We built Sweet Web through Bolt, RevenueCat, Stripe, Netlify, Eleven Labs and Supabase. We also used recipe resources for our recipe page. The integrations helped enhance the user experience and functionality of the app. We used bolt ai for the structure and adding integrations and then made edits where necessary to ensure functionality. We used Supabase to store user info and their favorites, ensuring that there is no lost info. We used revenuecat and stripe to ensure a seamless and secure checkout process for users.
Challenges we ran into:
The voice chat features where not working initially, and the project wasn't saving properly. It also took a while to link the payment applications to our app. Some of the cart features wouldn't work at times, but we figured it out and improved upon the design.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
Successfully creating an AI powered baking app to help bakers easily navigate the platform and access recipes. With the limited time and late start we are proud of what we have accomplished with this project. We were able to implement some voice recognition features and build a secure payment feature for the website. The website also works as expected with minimal glitches, which we didn't expect and are proud of.
What we learned:
We learned how to use Bolt and the other sources mentioned above. We also learned how to work more efficient under a tight deadline. We learned a lot about the process and also learned the syntax used for front-end development and making websites. This project taught us how to integrate various applications and apply them to the website.
What's next for Sweet Web:
Sweet Web hopes to reach more bakers and audience. We also hope to launch new products that our customers will enjoy.
