Inspiration
As frequent travelers, we wanted to design an experience that would simultaneously streamline the suitcase-packing process and create a fun space for users to come back to throughout that process-- all leading down to the exciting trip.
What it does
Sweetcase is a visual and interactive packing list. It reimagines static, over-optimized packing lists into an interactive design that encourages users to start packing through adaptive suitcase, templates, packing progress, and counts down days until time of departure.
How we built it
Our timeline was brainstorm > moodboard > ideation > Jobs to be done > insights > how might we > features > feature tier list > Information architecture > low fidelity > Figma Make.
Challenges we ran into
One of the challenges we ran into was not being able to include user interaction with the interface the way we designed initially because of the 24 hours limit. We decided to simplify those interactive moments and prioritize unified interactions across the website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of turning packing for travel from a flattened moment into a moment that is worth exploring and returning to. The state of the suitcase changes over time based on how user interacts with the packing list and suitcase.
What we learned
During the 24 hours design sprint, we learned to involve each other into the loop if there is something that we felt unsure of or something was too complicated for one teammate. Putting other teammates into the loop keeps everyone aligned. We knew what each one is working on and how to incorporate their work with our own.
What's next for Sweetcase
We would love to expand the interactivity of Sweetcase's limited features and make the experience even more immersive- exciting visuals that change every day to support the countdown, etc.
