Inspiration
We believe that mathematical literacy is just as important and as crucial as language literacy, which is why we wanted to make a game that helps young children struggling with basic arithmetic for whatever reason (e.g. learning disabilities such as dyscalculia) practice basic skills in a anxiety free environment.
What it does
Goes step by step through a story about buying sweets with basic arithmetic challenges.
How we built it
pygame, prayers and pure hard coding everything. (we know this is bad)
Challenges we ran into
pygame, time constraints. Spelling, we have multiple dyslexics on the team (many errors were made).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Actually finishing it.
What we learned
We do not know how to use pygame.
What's next for Sweet Shop basic arithmetic game
We want to add more difficulty levels. Cover more maths topics, for example, more advanced arithmetic, basic algebra, telling time, timetables, understanding simple data representations the list goes on. We would also like to crate versions for older children and adults.
