Sweet Harvest
Inspiration
Sweet Harvest came into existence due to a love for healthy indulgence — the sort that combines nostalgia, artisanal craftsmanship, and contemporary convenience. We recognized a gap in the market for high-end, farm-fresh-inspired cookies and snacks that didn't cut corners on ingredients or taste. Drawing inspiration from warm bakeries, harvest time, and the pleasure of sharing, we began working on a brand that would feel as intimate as a homemade treat.
What it does
Sweet Harvest is an eCommerce website selling a carefully curated range of top-quality cookies and handmade snacks crafted with premium, locally sourced ingredients. There is a seamless browsing of collections, gift box personalization, and subscription to seasonal drops. The website prioritizes both an effortless shopping experience and a richly visual, welcoming design that channels the warmth and excellence of the products.
How we built
We created Sweet Harvest with a full-stack development:
- Frontend: Written in React and Tailwind CSS to provide a responsive, clean, and brand-consistent interface.
- Backend: Constructed in Node.js and Express, with MongoDB integration for adaptable product and order management.
- E-commerce functionality: Driven by Stripe for secure payments, and offers functionality such as user accounts, product filtering, reviews, and dynamic inventory tracking.
- CMS Integration: For seasonal product drops, blog content, and promotions management.
- Hosting & Deployment: Hosted on Vercel (front-end) and Render (back-end) for scalability and rapid performance.
Challenges we encountered
- Balancing design and performance: Maintaining a rich visual experience without sacrificing load times or mobile responsiveness.
- Inventory logic: Handling finite seasonal inventory and subscriptions necessitated bespoke back-end logic.
- Gifting & customization: Creating a flexible gift note, box choice, and recurring delivery option system introduced complexity.
- Product photography: Shaping the premium experience of our products into images cost us time and learning.
We're proud of these accomplishments
- Launched a refined eCommerce experience that embodies our brand's values and beauty.
- Created a functional backend with working user accounts, dynamic product updates, and real-time inventory.
- Integrated Stripe seamlessly with single-purchase and subscription.
- Developed a bespoke gift box builder enabling customers to customize their orders.
- Saw positive feedback from early customers and users on usability and branding.
What we learned
- The need for UX/UI consistency in establishing trust and delight for users.
- How important planning the backend is when working with time-sensitive, seasonal stock.
- Subscription and gifting models call for additional attention to detail in order processing and customer communication.
- Brand building is more than design — it's every touchpoint from email confirmations to unboxing packaging.
