Inspiration We were inspired by the growing issue of urban pollution and the lack of engaging ways for communities to take action. We wanted to create a tool that empowers people to make a visible environmental impact and be rewarded for their efforts.

What it does Sweepify allows users to clean up litter in their communities and earn points by uploading before-and-after pictures. The app uses location tracking and image verification to ensure authenticity, helping to keep cities clean while building a sense of community pride.

How we built it We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the front end, with GPS and image input features for location and visual tracking. The backend integrates with a basic reward system and photo verification logic. We also explored AI for potential future detection of trash in images.

Challenges we ran into Some challenges included implementing reliable image verification, mapping GPS data accurately, and balancing simplicity with functionality in a short timeframe. Coordinating user uploads and preventing misuse were also concerns we had to account for.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We're proud that we created a fully functional prototype that demonstrates the full user journey—from capturing images to earning rewards. We also built a brand identity, complete with logos and a user-focused interface.

What we learned We learned how to rapidly prototype a full-stack solution while solving real-world problems. We also gained experience with GPS integration, user input validation, and collaborative problem-solving under time pressure.

What's next for Sweepify We plan to add AI-powered image recognition to detect garbage automatically, partner with local municipalities or non-profits for rewards, and implement leaderboards or challenges to encourage ongoing participation and community engagement.
