What it does
It monitors all outgoing SMS messages and checks them for profanity. For every profane word, it adds $1 to the "swear jar", which will then let you make a donation for the dollar amount in the swear jar to the Special Olympics.

We used Android Studio.
Challenges we ran into
We hadn't messed with background services in Android before.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished the hack with plenty of time left to spare.
What we learned
In Android, services require a persistent notification to be attached to them in order to keep them running.
