Inspiration
Our project is special in a way that it engages people to collaborate together in order to achieve victory rather than having each go about their own way. This allows the two players to connect with and possibly learn something new about each other. It could be said that we were inspired by old-school flash games like Fireboy and Watergirl; however, we wanted to put an emphasis on the two-player experience of such a game, hence the swapping mechanic.
What it does
Swap is a 2-person local multiplayer platformer game. As the name suggests, the core mechanic of the game allows the players to swap locations at the press of a key. The game is littered with single-room traps, requiring immense teamwork. Traps only activate with conflicting colors, so the switching can get complicated and messy!
How we built it
Blood, sweat, tears, Unity, and a nitty gritty perseverance got us through this difficult weekend. While there were many other programs available for making 2d platformers, we settled with Unity due to its version-control system being easy to set-up, which made team collaboration easy.
