The idea for Sustho came from noticing how difficult everyday healthcare can be for ordinary people. People often forget to take their medicines, have trouble understanding prescriptions or medical reports, and delay seeing a doctor because of cost, distance, or lack of easy access. These problems become even more difficult for elderly people who may have several medicines to manage and for families trying to keep track of their parents' health.
We wanted to build something that could bring these everyday healthcare needs together in one place instead of making people depend on many different services.
What Sustho Does
Sustho is designed as a digital healthcare ecosystem that helps people manage their health in their daily lives.
It includes Dr. Nexus, an AI health assistant, along with medicine reminders, dosage tracking, health records, medical report analysis, skin and nail scanning, health-risk estimation, daily and weekly AI health reports, sleep and activity tracking, nutrition guidance, family health monitoring, maternal health support, and basic primary-care and first-aid information.
Sustho also focuses on access to professional healthcare. Users can find doctors, book affordable appointments, and receive online consultations from home. For emergencies, the platform includes SOS support, family notifications, location sharing with permission, blood-request posting, blood-bank information, and nearby healthcare services.
How We Built It
We designed Sustho as a single platform where different healthcare services can work together. AI, machine learning, and deep learning are used for different tasks instead of relying on one model for everything.
Depending on the task, approaches such as Random Forest, XGBoost, SVM, Logistic Regression, CNN, ResNet, EfficientNet, LSTM, and Transformer-based models can be used for health-risk analysis, prediction, medical document processing, image analysis, and health trends.
The platform is also designed with English and Bangla support so that it can be useful to a wider range of people.
Challenges We Faced
One of our biggest challenges was deciding how to bring so many healthcare features into one platform without making it confusing for users. Healthcare also requires much more responsibility than a typical application because incorrect information can affect people's decisions.
We had to think carefully about medical accuracy, privacy, security, AI limitations, elderly accessibility, and how to clearly distinguish AI-assisted information from professional medical advice.
Another challenge was designing advanced features such as image-based health analysis and health-risk prediction in a way that remains useful without claiming to replace doctors.
Accomplishments We're Proud Of
We are proud that Sustho connects areas that are normally separated: AI-assisted healthcare, medicine management, preventive care, family health, affordable doctor access, wellness tracking, and emergency support.
We also wanted to solve practical problems, such as helping an elderly person remember a medicine, helping a family stay informed with permission, or helping someone reach a doctor without having to travel unnecessarily.
What We Learned
Building Sustho taught us that healthcare technology is not simply about adding more AI features. A useful healthcare platform needs to be understandable, accessible, responsible, and focused on real human needs.
We learned the importance of privacy, reliable health information, responsible AI, simple user interfaces, and knowing when technology should guide a user toward a qualified healthcare professional.
What's Next for Sustho
Our next step is to develop and test the platform feature by feature rather than trying to build everything at once. We want to improve the AI and machine learning models, strengthen privacy and security, test the system with different types of users, and work with healthcare professionals to improve the quality of the platform.
We also plan to expand affordable online doctor consultations, improve English and Bangla accessibility, strengthen family and elderly care features, and continue developing preventive health and emergency services.
Our long-term goal is simple: make everyday healthcare easier to understand, easier to manage, and easier to access.
