Inspiration
We noticed that the environmental consequences of fast fashion weren't very much talked about in terms of their sustainability, or it was difficult to get accurate information about a fashion company's practices. To combat this, me and Aarushi created an app that would allow users to view the sustainability and impact a clothing product has on the environment through a system of "sustainascores".
What it does
Sustainascores are scores given from 1-100 to indicate the sustainability of a product, each clothing item on the app will be granted with a sustainascore, and it is based on several factors, such as packaging, sustainability stats, production process stats.
How we built it
Using Python, and Figma for the frontend.
Challenges we ran into
Our 2 other teammates abandonned us in the middle of the hackathon, so it was extremely difficult to get all the data we needed, the timezone differences also made it difficult to complete the work in time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how the frontend and powerpoint turned out, as we put a lot of effort in it, and were able to complete it in time.
What we learned
We were able to improve and extend our Figma skills and learnt how to work under pressure and manage stress, especially when 2 teammates leave your team in the middle of the hackathin.
What's next for Sustainashop
We plan on implementing AI to sift through sustainability performance reports to extract the information needed to calculate sustainascores.
When viewing the powerpoint, there are voice recordings at the bottom of the page. The font used is Outfit, which can be installed from Google Fonts for the optimal viewing experience.
