Inspiration
SustainaBucks stems from the pressing need to encourage and streamline recycling processes. We recognized the increasing environmental concerns and wanted to contribute to a solution that incentivizes individuals to recycle by rewarding them with the greatest motivator--money.
What it does
SustainaBucks utilizes the power of Google Cloud API to scan objects and determine their recyclability. By leveraging this technology, users can easily identify the material of an item and receive guidance on where to send it for recycling. In return, these facilities can provide monetary rewards for individuals bringing into recyclable items.
How we built it
Using HTML and Python, we intergrated the Google Cloud API into a system where it can scan text and recognize the material of an object.
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges we encountered was optimizing the scanning process for various types of objects and materials. Another challenge we faced was linking the API system with the site itself.

We are proud to have successfully integrated the Google Cloud API into our system, providing users with a reliable tool to assess recyclability.

What's next for SustainaBucks
In our plans we intend to grow the SustainaBucks ecosystem by introducing features. This will involve incorporating gamification elements to encourage user involvement expanding the network of recycling centers that participate in our system and potentially collaborating with sustainable initiatives to create a holistic platform, for promoting environmental responsibility.
