Inspiration
Different types of produce grows in different areas. In order to grow produce that doesn't naturally grow in an area, copious amount of resources may be used to force it's growth or it may be imported from another part of the world/country. In order to limit the unessential use of fresh water and reduce the carbon footprint created by the transportation of produce we wanted to make an app that would give consumers the options they needed to make more ethical choices when shopping for their produce.
What it does
The user will enter a list of produce items and a shopping date, and the app will then determine the items freshness.
How we built it
We built this app using Python. Furthermore, we used balsamiq to create a mockup.
Challenges we ran into
We attempted to use flutter when no one on the team was very familiar with it. There were also issues with trying to get two people on our team to be able to work on the same project within Android studio.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to come together as a team on the day of the hackathon and generate enough ideas to come up with one that we all really liked.
What we learned
This was the first Hackathon for two of our team members, we learned the importance of working together and using our strengths to contribute to the final project.
What's next for Dragonfruit
We want to continue to participate Hackathons and generate new ideas for projects to share.
