Inspiration

There were 292.4 million tonnes of trash created in 2018. This amounted to about 4.9 pounds per person every day. Only about a third of the garbage was recycled or composted. The need to generate less trash in our environment, as well as our personal obligation to make those tiny adjustments in our lives, drove our team.

What it does

Sustain is a website that aims to connect visitors with places that may help them live a more sustainable existence. Sustain provides services to assist people practise sustainability by identifying nearby sustainable enterprises, such as Recycling Centers, water refill stations, and zero waste food shops.

How we built it

The website is built with HTML/CSS, Javascript, and Google-Maps-API

Challenges we ran into

The collaboration with the Google Maps API was the most difficult aspect of the project. From issues with the key not functioning to difficulties with locations not being set, there are a variety of issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The major achievement was effectively integrating the Google Maps API into a website and having it perform properly with specified actions.

What we learned

Some of us learnt how to utilise HTML and how to correctly integrate APIs such as Google Maps into an HTML webpage.

What's next for Sustainabilty

Additional information about sustainable establishments will be added to each of the page's location markers as our team gathers more information. This is critical so that our web app can be used by more people across the country.
