Sustainability Tracker

Inspiration

I was inspired to create the Sustainability Tracker after noticing the growing importance of environmental awareness and the need for individuals and organizations to see their sustainability practices. With increasing problems about climate change and resource issues, I wanted to power users to take actionable steps toward more sustainable living.

What it does

The Sustainability Tracker is an app that helps users monitor their environmental impact by tracking their carbon footprint, energy consumption, and waste generation. It provides personalized results for reducing their impact and encourages sustainable habits through meeting goals.

How we built it

I built the Sustainability Tracker using html, c++, and python. The app uses APIs to gather data on energy consumption and carbon emissions, and I used a user-friendly interface to display progress and suggestions. The face was designed to handle user data while providing real-time updates.

challenges

Some challenges I faced was included APIs for data retrieval and ensuring the app's scalability to adjust to a bigger base generally. I also faced difficulties in creating engaging content to keep users motivated to use the app regularly.

accomplishments

I'm proud of successfully creating an interface that not only tracks sustainability issues but also encourages users to engage with the content. I'm also happy I had the opportunity to create a website people could use for the planet. Additionally, I received positive feedback during user testing, which helped my design processes.

what was learned

Throughout developing, I learned the importance of user design and the need for testing to enhance my features. I also gained knowledge into environmental data and how to present complex information in an easy manner.

whats next for Sustainability Tracker

Moving forward, I plan to enhance the app by adding features like community challenges and partnerships with local sustainability organizations. My goal is also to conduct more user testing to gather feedback for future updates and improvements. In conclusion, I hope to expand my reach and impact more users in their sustainability journey.
