We wanted to find ways to evaluate how sustainable products online were. With an emphasis on quantifiability, our Sustainability Evaluator provides feedback on online products.
What it does
Our Sustainability Evaluator provides a percentage rating of products along with a summary as justification and alternative product.
How we built it
Through the use of react, vite and gemini.
Challenges we ran into
This was our first hackathon and we were not sure how to deliver a product in such a short time frame. We were also unfamiliar with the problem statement.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to finish a minimum viable product by the time limit for our first hackathon and also learnt more about sustainability through the process.
What we learned
Sustainability is an important but sometimes overlooked aspect when we make our purchase decisions when shopping. There are also many technologies to code out ideas we had with but we would have to evaluate them and settle on a choice.
What's next for Sustainability Evaluator
Perhaps access to more specific data and the backing of related organisations could take Sustainability Evaluator to the next level, by establishing conventions or standards that scores could be evaluated based on as well as more relevant information upon which to generate scores from.
