Inspiration:

We were inspired by top-down factory video games and wanted to make a similar game to teach the importance of reducing emissions.

What it does

Sustaining the Earth is a game intended to educate people about CO2 Emissions and climate change dangers. Manage a city's power grid as you balance emissions and energy.

How we built it

We utilized Unity Game Engine to design our application and C# with Visual Studio's Code. For version control and file sharing, we used Unity's version control and collaboration system.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge that we ran into was making an understandable UI, we went over multiple different prototypes before settling on the best one. Another challenge that we ran into was creating all the pixel art for the game; animating and drawing all the sprites took a lot of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of our game's core gameplay loop and mechanics as we feel that it's both completed and deep. We are also proud of our game's art style and animation.

What we learned

One thing that we learned is how to use Unity Version Control to more efficiently share and collaborate on files; this was the first time we had used this tool.

What's next for Sustain the Earth

In the future, we will continue to update Sustain the Earth by adding more features and content, optimizing the performance of the game, and further improving the balance of the game.
