Inspiration
Greenwashing is extremely common and many brands inaccurately brand themselves as environmentally friends. This inspired us to create a website where people can easily find sustainable brands that value and prioritize sustainability and climate change.
What it does
This website serves as an informational center focusing on informing individuals about sustainable brands in 4 major business categories: clothing, beauty, homegoods, and other businesses.
How we built it
we started with a canva website in order to get the overall layout done and to incorperate/ design the logo and overall concept. then research was preformed where we looked at the amount of greenwashing a brand preformed and collected sites which were the least brainwashed as a collective list. Then used Html Css and javascript to code our website, as well as a bootstrap for the library for design in order to make 5 pages including a home page, beauty, home-goods, clothes and businesses.
Challenges we ran into
We spent a lot of time on research and finding sustainable brands that we were passionate about, but struggled with having enough time to code all those brands and pages into our website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We spent a lot of time on our digital artwork and design as well as making our landing page interactive and engaging.
What we learned
We learned that we need to manage our time a little better and more effectively delegate tasks.
What's next for Sustain
e hope to continue to add environmentally friendly and BIPOC owned businesses to Sustain and help our peers and communities support healthier and more sustainable companies.
