Inspiration

Our inspiration came from finding out that we were all deeply interested in the environment, especially concerning sustainable futures and lowering carbon footprints. Half our team travels a lot to Asia and witnessed the immense amount of air pollution and how it negatively affects the population. We decided that by creating a website highlighting sustainable brands, we could start limiting the use of plastic heavy products and work our way to a greener future. This led to us creating Sustain.

What it does

Sustain provides consumers information on safe alternatives to everyday products such as makeup to backpacks. It also links users to websites for information and news on sustainability and ethical consumerism.

How we built it

We built Sustain through the language HTML on the website w3schools.com. After creating our codes, we uploaded it onto brackets.io and tested it out. Lastly, we created a web server for users to be able to search and find Sustain.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a few challenges while building this website. Many consisted of technical errors in code, such as not including a bracket or forgetting a space. One major challenge we faced throughout the building of Sustain was trying to create a working comments section, which we were ultimately able to create.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Mainly, we are proud of having started and finished this website. Another accomplishment to note would be overcoming any challenges, no matter how little or big, with the same determination and willingness to learn and develop our skills together.

What we learned

We learned how to overcome difficulties through teamwork and how to create websites as well as navigating through new types of program languages.

What's next for Sustain

We hope to increase the amount of consumers using eco friendly brands as well as broadening our search browser. Overall, we wish that Sustain will exceed our goal to help consumers make the right choices for the world's, and their, future.
