Inspiration
As conscientious consumers, we are often faced with a dilemma - how do we make environmentally sustainable choices while navigating the complex landscape of food products? With limited information available and greenwashing rampant in the industry, it's challenging for individuals to discern the true environmental impact of the items they purchase.
What it does
We used Wakefern's API to obtain store data to generate mock inventories and determine whether or not the foods are sustainable.
How we built it
We used React and Express.js for frontend/backend.
Challenges we ran into
We were trying to use AI to analyze our the product choices and enable a wide variety of products. However due to API constraints, that was not possible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We accomplished both a front and back end in the relatively short amount of time that we were working.
What we learned
We learned a great deal about CSS styling and how to integrate front and back end.
What's next for SusFoods
It would be great if we could eventually get the APIs from Cloudflare to work with our web app. Other than that, it would nice to add other features, such as real-time updates, environmental impact scores, etc.
