Inspiration
I noticed a gap in the DIY music community, for an efficient way to build a local fanbase. As a musician myself, I wanted to solve this problem for myself, and other amateur musicians, who are struggling to market themselves on a local level.
What it does
Musicians list all of their upcoming shows, and promote them by uploading song clips, which show up in their fan's news feeds. They must tag those song clips with keywords, that effectively describe the song.
In the fan section of the app, fans set their personal preferences by selecting keywords that best describe their musical taste. This lets the app know which songs to display in their news feed. Additionally, songs posted by artists with upcoming shows near the fan, are prioritized at the

Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Figuring out a way to provide value to both the fans, and the artists. I decided to build a custom news feed for each person, based on their location and musical preference. This app makes it possible for fans to discover upcoming shows, by listening to a song clip from the artist.
What I learned
I learned that I can use Adobe XD to easily build an interactive prototype.
What's next for Surroundings - Mobile App
I am going to build a function version of this app, using AngularJS, Cordova, Ionic, HTML5 and CSS3.
