What it doesThe inspiration for thei Food Donation Platform came from the need to tackle food wastage and help the needy. According to global studies, about one-third of the food produced worldwide goes to waste, while millions of people go hungry. The idea of creating a platform that connects restaurants with NGOs, allowing them to donate excess food, felt like a natural solution. We also noticed a gap in ensuring food quality and implemented AI to check food spoilage.

Additionally, the platform allows users to donate money for the needy, participate in volunteering events, and provide in-kind donations like clothes and groceries. The inclusion of real-time maps showing nearby NGOs enhances the user experience and streamlines the donation process.

Building this project was an incredible learning experience, where we explored various technologies and challenges, from building an intuitive UI to integrating AI for food spoilage detection.

Challenges:

Creating a seamless and secure donation process for both food and money. Implementing an AI-driven Spoiler Check for food quality assurance. Designing a user-friendly platform that encourages people to participate in charitable activities. Integrating real-time maps to show NGO locations and donation activity status. ## goals Through an easy-to-use interface, Surplus2Serve ensures that food donations are facilitated seamlessly, providing both donors and recipients with a platform to make an impact. The platform also emphasizes quality checks, ensuring that the food donated is safe and nutritious for consumption, thus promoting a healthier and more responsible way of contributing to society.
