Overview
SurgiCompare is a proud supporter of price transparency in healthcare! We leverage the data made available by the new Price Transparency Act to give consumers better estimates of healthcare costs, while acting as a lead generation business for hospital systems that allows them to filter by insurance types.
How does SurgiCompare work?
SurgiCompare scrapes hospital websites for machine-readable healthcare revenue data files, then combines these files to cross-reference pricing across hospitals for the same procedure. We take in a consumer's healthcare insurance plan, coinsurance, remaining deductible, and max out-of-pocket costs to create a procedure price estimator for all hospitals in a patient's region. We also scrape quality information from existing hospital quality websites, so consumers can get price and quality information in one place to make informed healthcare decisions.
What is the cost of SurgiCompare?
SurgiCompare is free to use! SurgiCompare's revenue comes from hospitals, which use the data patients provide to follow up with them about procedures. Hospitals can filter which patients they would like to advertise to based on a patient's insurance plan, a breakthrough in medical lead generation.
What are SurgiCare's long-term goals?
SurgiCare is starting with a beachhead market of Connecticut, but our vision is broad. We aim to integrate across all 50 states and create the nation's most accurate and informative procedure cost estimation website. Future additions to our product will include quality data for individual procedures by hospital as well as integration of outcomes data such as complication rates for each procedure.
