The Story Behind Supprise Me
We all have people we love, appreciate, and want to celebrate. Yet when the moment comes, expressing those feelings can be surprisingly difficult. A birthday message becomes "Happy Birthday ❤️." An anniversary becomes a generic card. A thank-you becomes a few rushed words.
I wanted to change that.
Supprise Me was created around a simple idea: what if technology could help people express how they truly feel about the people who matter to them?
Instead of buying a standard gift or paying a surprise vendor to organize a physical experience, Supprise Me lets anyone create a personalized digital surprise in minutes.
A user tells Supprise Me who they are celebrating, their relationship, the occasion, and what they love or appreciate about that person. Gemini transforms those personal inputs into a meaningful message that feels specific to the recipient rather than generic. The creator can then add background music, a personal voice note, beautiful visual designs, and even a financial gift before generating a private surprise link.
The recipient doesn't just receive a message. They "experience" the surprise.
How We Built It
We designed Supprise Me around the idea that creating an emotional experience should be as simple as answering a few questions.
The product guides the creator from the occasion and relationship, through AI-assisted message creation and personalization, to the final interactive surprise page. Gemini is used as the intelligence layer that turns the creator's raw thoughts into emotionally appropriate, personalized content.
We also designed the experience so that AI doesn't replace the creator's feelings. Instead, it helps them articulate what they already want to say.
What We Learned
One of our biggest lessons was that AI becomes much more valuable when it is connected to "context".
A generic AI-generated birthday message is easy to produce, but it doesn't necessarily feel personal. Giving Gemini information about the relationship, the occasion, memories, and qualities the creator appreciates allows the generated message to become much more meaningful.
We also learned that the experience around the AI matters just as much as the AI itself. Supprise Me isn't simply a text generator. The music, voice, visual design, sharing mechanism, and gifting layer work together to create an emotional moment.
The Challenges
One of our biggest challenges was balancing personalization with simplicity. We wanted users to provide enough information for the AI to create something meaningful without forcing them to complete a long form.
We also had to think carefully about privacy and financial gifting. A surprise can contain deeply personal messages, voice recordings, and money, so the experience needs to feel private and secure.
Another challenge was making AI-generated content feel human. We learned that the best results come from giving users control while allowing AI to handle the difficult part of turning their thoughts into polished, emotionally resonant content.
Where We're Going
Supprise Me can become a new layer of social communication: a place where people don't just send messages, but create "moments".
Birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, friendship celebrations, congratulations, appreciation, long-distance relationships, and everyday "I appreciate you" moments can all become personalized experiences.
Our vision is simple: "make it easier for people to say what they feel—and make the people receiving it feel it."
Supprise Me uses AI not to make human connection less personal, but to help people express their humanity more deeply.
