Inspiration

The idea was inspired by a challenge proposed by one of the sponsors during our participation in the Local Hack Day organized by Nodeschoolsm and held on December 7 and 8, where the team was formed.

What it does

The platform is looking to bring together the leaders of the different communities who can create initiatives describing the resources they need to make these initiatives a reality, on the other hand it will also be a hub for sponsoring companies that practice the value of corporate responsibility , who would be the ones who would support the different initiatives that most attract their attention, also aims to create greater citizen participation in the self-development of communities by fostering a culture of collaboration through different features of the platform.

How I built it

To develop the platform, the web environment has been chosen, using the language PHP, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, MVC as a design pattern, jQuery and AJAX and imolementing the ZorinPHP Framework developed long ago by one of the teammates, among others technologies, then the Database was designed making it as standardized as possible for information management. To connect to the database, PDO CUDA is used, then a DB script was processed using ZorinPHP to obtain the basic structuring of our platform.

Challenges I ran into

One of the main challenges we encountered was that most of the team was not familiar with the ZorinPHP Framework, so they had to dedicate some time for the creator of said Framework to update the other partners, as a second The challenge was to deliver certain already functional characteristics of the platform which would be evaluated by the judges of the Local Hack Day event organized by Nodeschoolsm, so a prioritization was made to be able to build the characteristics that gave us the highest scores when completing them, since The ZorinPHP Framework uses Bootstrap MVC had to make certain changes to the Views to show them according to the screen designs provided by the Sponsors to meet the challenge. In addition to conducting consultations for the display of initiatives. The time we had was less than 24 hours to fully enter the coding.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud to have formed a team that learns easily and quickly as well as being very committed to the project, since the decision has been made to continue coding not only to participate in this devPost Hackathon but also the decision to carry out implementing the platform to benefit the thousands of communities in our country and if it can be replicated in other countries it would be an international benefit for humanity. So staying motivated as a team by complementing different skills will lead us to the success of this platform. Additionally, we are proud to be the first place winners in the first Local Hack Day with the SponsorUs challenge proposed by Applaudo Studios.

What I learned

We have learned that as programmers we can help solve the needs that many communities go through, either by implementing this platform, we have also learned to take advantage of the different skills of our members to make this a reality, soon we are likely to be able to integrate more members of the initiative to develop it in less time. Being participants of the first Local Hack Day organized by Nodeschoolsm has opened our minds to notice what we can achieve by doing Networking with other people not only from the same area of knowledge but also from a different area.

What's next for SupportMeSv

What follows for this platform is a stage of improvements in the features that are already functional as well as the implementation of new features for the benefit of its users, we deeply appreciate the opportunity to participate in this type of Hackathons and to be part of of the MLH.
