Supporting Stick

An app that teaches sign languages can talk to blind, deaf, blind&deaf and understand what mute want to say. It shows nearby places which have facilities for Handicapped people so that they can visit.

Inspiration

At times we come across people who can't talk and we do not understand their language, which makes it difficult for us to help them. At times handicapped people visit places that do not have special facilities, leaving them helpless.

Nowadays people are stressed and mentally tired because of their work, relationships, family, college, peers, etc. Sometimes their own playlist does not help them calm down and random suggestions can worsen their mood.

What it does

Thus to solve all these situations I thought of developing an application that would teach sign languages through short videos and have a quiz after each teaching video which would make it easy for those interested to learn the language and help the needy. Suggest a few places around the handicapped, using google maps API, suggesting the places which have facilities for the handicapped making it easy for them to visit particular comfortable places. Have various genres of songs, suggested by various people, which has helped them calm their mood and make various playlists depending on which kind of mood you're trying to calm

How we built it

I've used Flutter as frontend, and tried using Auth0 for authentication but couldn't

Challenges we ran into

integrating Auth0 with Flutter was the biggest challenge I ran into and yet couldn't. using youtube API to showcase the videos, couldn't get through it, but found another way to show YouTube videos in the app. Making the quiz part, which is still not solved and I am working on it. Everything works but there seems to be a problem with the options part. These were a lot of challenges which exhausted me, and wasted time resting to get out of these frustrations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Thinking of this idea and started to implement it, getting through a part in 30 hours. Trying to integrate Auth0. Integrating YouTube to Flutter

What we learned

Learned about Auth0. Which got me connected to a lot of Flutter folks who are now trying to help me. Integration of youtube to Flutter. Making a proper quiz model.

What's next for Supporting Stick

Will be completing the initial build of the application and will be taking user reviews based on which will modify the idea
