Inspiration

We were inspired by the challenges businesses face due to unexpected delivery delays, stock shortages, and changing customer demand. Many businesses identify these problems only after losing sales. We wanted to build a solution that predicts potential disruptions early and helps businesses take action before losses occur.

What it does

SupplyChainIQ is an intelligent supply chain disruption predictor. It monitors inventory, orders, and delivery updates, forecasts product demand, calculates available stock days, and identifies shortage risks. It also suggests optimal reorder quantities, recommends alternative suppliers, and explains the reasons behind each risk alert.

How we built it

We designed SupplyChainIQ using Python, SQL, FastAPI, and Streamlit. Pandas and NumPy support data processing and analysis, while SQLite/PostgreSQL provide database storage. The proposed architecture combines event processing, demand forecasting, risk detection, and a recommendation engine to deliver insights through an interactive dashboard.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenges included designing a real-time event-processing workflow, identifying potential stock shortages, handling changing demand and delivery delays, and developing useful reorder recommendations. We also focused on making the solution affordable and practical for small and medium-sized businesses.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to develop a solution that connects real-time supply chain monitoring with predictive analytics and actionable recommendations. Our project brings inventory tracking, shortage prediction, supplier alternatives, and smart reorder advice together in one platform.

What we learned

We learned about supply chain management, demand forecasting, predictive analytics, database management, API development, and real-time data processing. We also understood how AI and data-driven technologies can help businesses make better decisions and reduce operational losses.

What's next for SupplyChainIQ

We plan to integrate real supplier and inventory APIs, improve forecasting accuracy, support multiple warehouses, introduce mobile notifications, and test the platform with real businesses. Our goal is to make SupplyChainIQ a reliable and affordable supply chain intelligence platform.
