Inspiration
Construction projects frequently suffer from material delays, fragmented communication, and a lack of real-time visibility across suppliers, transporters, warehouses, and site teams. Project managers often rely on spreadsheets, phone calls, and emails to answer simple questions like "Where is my shipment?" or "Will the materials arrive before construction begins?" By the time problems are discovered, delays have already impacted schedules and budgets.
We wanted to build an AI-powered platform that transforms construction supply chains from reactive to predictive—giving every stakeholder real-time visibility and actionable insights before issues become costly.
What it does
SupplyAI is an AI-powered construction supply chain intelligence platform that connects project managers, procurement teams, suppliers, logistics partners, and site engineers through a single intelligent dashboard.
Key capabilities include:
📦 Real-time material and shipment tracking 🤖 AI-powered delay prediction ⚠️ Early risk detection and proactive alerts 🧠 AI Copilot for natural language queries 📊 Supplier performance analytics 📈 Project impact analysis 🔔 Smart notifications and recommendations 📍 End-to-end visibility from procurement to delivery
Instead of simply displaying data, SupplyAI analyzes it and recommends the best actions to minimize project disruptions.
How we built it
We designed SupplyAI as a modern, scalable SaaS platform with role-based access for different construction stakeholders.
Frontend Next.js React TypeScript Tailwind CSS shadcn/ui Framer Motion Recharts Backend Node.js Express.js REST APIs Database PostgreSQL / MongoDB (depending on deployment) Redis for caching AI Layer LLM-powered AI Copilot Delay prediction engine Supplier recommendation model Risk scoring Intelligent summarization External Integrations Weather API Maps & Geolocation Email/SMS Notifications
The platform is designed using a modular architecture so additional AI models and integrations can be added easily.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was designing a workflow that accurately represents real-world construction supply chains while keeping the application intuitive.
We also had to:
Model complex relationships between projects, suppliers, shipments, and materials. Build role-based interfaces for different stakeholders. Design AI features that provide meaningful recommendations instead of generic chatbot responses. Balance enterprise-level functionality with a clean, easy-to-use user experience suitable for a hackathon demo. Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a complete end-to-end supply chain workflow. Designed an intuitive, enterprise-grade dashboard. Implemented role-based access for multiple stakeholders. Created an AI Copilot capable of answering supply chain questions in natural language. Developed intelligent delay prediction and risk visualization. Designed a scalable architecture that can support real-world construction projects. What we learned
Through this project, we gained a deeper understanding of construction supply chain operations and the challenges faced by project teams every day.
We also learned:
Designing AI around real business workflows is more valuable than simply integrating an LLM. Predictive insights create significantly more value than static dashboards. Good user experience is critical for enterprise software adoption. Collaboration between AI, backend systems, and visualization tools is essential for delivering actionable intelligence. What's next for SupplyAI
Our vision is to evolve SupplyAI into a complete AI operating system for construction supply chains.
Future enhancements include:
Live IoT integration for real-time asset tracking Digital twin visualization of construction projects AI-powered procurement optimization Automated purchase order generation Predictive inventory planning Computer vision for material verification ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, Procore, Autodesk) Mobile application for field teams Generative AI reports and executive summaries Autonomous AI agents that monitor projects and proactively coordinate with suppliers before delays occur
