AI Supply Chain Liaison

🚀 Inspiration

Managing supplier communication is often slow, error-prone, and language barriers make it even harder. We wanted to build an AI-powered liaison that automates supplier interactions, translates messages seamlessly, and integrates with tools like Slack for real-time updates. Inspired by the inefficiencies we’ve experienced in supply chain management, we set out to streamline and modernize the process.

🔍 What We Learned

Throughout this hackathon, we explored:

• The power of LLMs and vector databases for context-aware AI interactions

• Multilingual AI messaging using OpenRouter and ElevenLabs

• Slack-based approvals to ensure human oversight in supplier communications (not done yet)

• The challenges of structuring supplier data efficiently with Supabase

🏗️ How We Built It

1. Data & Context Storage – We used Supabase as our relational database and a custom-built JSON importer to store supplier history, past orders, and conversations.

2. AI Messaging & Translation – Leveraged OpenRouter + Google Translate to translate messages and communicate in the supplier’s native language.

3. Slack/WeChat/WhatsApp Integration – AI automatically notifies users when supplier responses arrive, extracting key insights for approval. (still under construction)

4. Voice Support (Eleven Labs) – AI can send voice messages, converting from text for clarity.

5. Automated Follow-ups – AI intelligently determines when to follow up, ensuring smooth supplier interactions. (still under construction)

⚡ Challenges We Faced

• Ensuring accurate data retrieval so messages don’t get mixed up between suppliers

• Handling edge cases in translation, where nuances in language impact communication

• Structuring supplier and order data for easy querying in a relational database

• Managing real-time updates in Slack/WeChat/WhatsApp without overwhelming the user with notifications

🌍 The Future

This is just the beginning. Future phases will include:

• Real-time AI-powered supplier calls using Twilio + Eleven Labs

• Deeper ERP integrations to automate more workflows

• Enhanced decision-making AI for proactive issue resolution
