Superstore Superstar! Art, Music, Design – Aidan Sebusch Programming – Cayden Walsh
This game, Superstore Superstar, is about a grocery store worker who plays guitar, angering many of the old shopper. Shoot your music at the elderly and turn them into your rockstar bandmates! As you gain more bandmates, more tracks of the background music get unlocked, until you have a full song playing. We used Aseprite for the sprites and tile-sets, FL studio, Bass, and the 8bitmagicplug for the music, and Godot for the game engine. This was both of our first game, and first Hackathon. We went in over our heads. Cayden had to start learning Godot and GDscript from scratch, so we could not start programming until the second day. Aidan had never made tilesets or worked with z-indexes before, nor had so many sprites to make at the same time! We overshot, had too many concepts and sprites but not enough time to implement all the ideas. Trying to balance making music, programing, doing art, learning programming, was all too much. However, next time, we have developed these skills so that we will be in a far better position. Every single sprite was handmade during this competition. The background music was played on bass and recorded on FL studio. All the programming was done from scratch.
