Inspiration
Our team was inspired by the 2021 IPCC report, which outlined the concerning impacts of climate change. We decided to create an app that would target this issue at its roots and bring about meaningful change.
What it does
AskEco is a pocket-sized green consultant for small businesses. This app focuses on helping businesses implement green practices by providing 3 main features: the waste sorter, GreenSPIRE articles and Eco Chat. People may access the app through a paid subscription. Users are guided through the AskEco app by our avatar, “Eco.” This prototype and the cost estimates were designed for residents of Ontario, a province in Canada.
How we built it
We built the app prototype with Figma. The AskEco avatar and logo were designed on Procreate. Our presentation was made with Google Slides.
Challenges we ran into
As first-time hackers, we struggled to come up with an idea that was both impactful and feasible. Our team also had to learn how to use Figma for the first time, which proved to be a challenge. Eventually, we created an idea and built an app prototype that we were proud of.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are most proud of the fact that we completed our first hackathon and designed our first app prototype.
What we learned
Our team learned that designing a project is not a one-person job. It took all of us collaborating and working together to make this happen.
What's next for SuperPOSITRON Submission - AskEco
AskEco has a bright future. We hope to make the app available to all residents of Canada and eventually the entire world.
