💡 Inspiration

Financial apps are usually cold, stressful, and full of spreadsheets. For a busy mom holding a baby in one hand and a phone in the other, opening a banking app feels like a chore. We asked: What if saving money felt like a self-care ritual instead of a burden?

We wanted to build a "Digital Spa" for finance—an app that turns the chaos of bills into a serene, gamified Zen Garden.

🌿 What it does

SuperMom Finance is an AI-powered financial companion designed specifically to reduce mental load for mothers. It transforms financial tasks into a living ecosystem:

  • The Garden Dashboard: Replaces stressful debt lists with a "living" garden. Paying a bill isn't a loss; it's "Watering" your Mortgage Seed. Saving money adds "New Leaves" to your Wealth Plant.
  • Quick Actions Hub: A central menu where moms can "Plant a Bill" or "Scan a Receipt" in seconds. The app instantly visualizes expenses in a breakdown chart, spotting leaks before they become floods.
  • Magic Saver AI (Gemini Powered): A "Frugal Concierge" that finds instant savings. Moms can ask "How do I save on diapers?" and get actionable hacks that instantly add cash to their Wealth Pot.
  • Rewards Shop: We gamified financial literacy. Users earn "Wealth Points" by reading strategy cards. These points can be redeemed for cosmetic upgrades like Diamond Pots or Exotic Plant Skins, creating a compelling retention loop.
  • The Golden Ticket: A positive, reward-based approach to monetization (powered by RevenueCat) that unlocks premium coaching and unlimited garden slots.

⚙️ How we built it

We built SuperMom Finance as a high-performance PWA (Progressive Web App) using a modern stack:

  • Frontend: React with Tailwind CSS for that soft, "Digital Spa" aesthetic.
  • Animation: Framer Motion for organic interactions (leaves growing, rain falling, breathing animations).
  • Backend: Supabase for real-time state management and authentication.
  • AI: Google Gemini API for the "Magic Saver" logic and receipt analysis.
  • Monetization: RevenueCat for seamless subscription management. We implemented a custom "Golden Ticket" paywall that feels like a reward, not a barrier.

🧠 Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was balancing "Gamification" with "Serious Finance." We didn't want it to feel childish. We solved this by using a sophisticated "Future Simulator" (Vault) with dark mode UI, showing real compound interest math alongside the fun garden elements. Another challenge was handling the Subscription flow on a web app. We used RevenueCat's robust API to manage entitlements, creating a smooth "Test Mode" experience for the hackathon judges.

🚀 Accomplishments we're proud of

We are particularly proud of the "Expense Breakdown" integration. Taking a photo of a receipt and having AI instantly categorize it and update the "Health" of the garden feels like magic. It closes the loop between physical spending and digital saving.
