Inspiration

For an explorer exploring the lawless expanse of the galactic frontier, the difference between a very successful mission and being stranded in space is the ability to manage your money are sources. Taking inspiration from 19th-century frontier trading posts, and applying it to the high tech space of modern space exploration, our software SuperGalatic Foreign Exchange(SGFX) is designed to be the most important software for any space explorer. SGFX allows an explorer to navigate the volatile shifting economies of alien civilizations without the risk of running out of money

What it does

SFGX is a high-end, interactive web application that simulates a real-time “intersetellar” currency market. It allows the explorer to see changes based on galactic news, and allows them to invest and buy currencies.

How we built it

We built it using HTML, CSS and JavaScript with help from Claude AI.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a few bugs (for example, when implementing the the investments tab, the number would flash red every time a news notification popped up, instead of only when the investment decreased, and also it would show the investment as going UP if BAD news was received, and vice versa). We also were originally planning on incorporating a physical component like an led light that would flash red or green depending on if your investments were doing well or poorly, but we scratched the idea because it seemed too disconnected and like we were trying to do two different things.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Claude AI enabled us to achieve a very visually stunning localhost website, with very aesthetic front end interfaces

What we learned

We learned that you can come up with very complex, fun, innovative solutions when you brainstorm hard enough.

What's next for SuperGalactic Foreign Exchange

Right now, it’s purely front-end CSS, JavaScript, and HTML. What’s next for SGMX will be the implementation of a back-end – real databases, real data, real difference.
