Project Story
About the Project
SuperCharge is our submission for the 3D Website Hackathon—a project built around the idea of creating a more immersive and visually engaging web experience through 3D.
Inspiration
We wanted to explore what happens when a traditional website becomes more than a collection of pages and content. The inspiration behind SuperCharge was to experiment with 3D, motion, and interaction to create an experience that feels dynamic and memorable rather than static.
The hackathon allowed us to take that idea further and turn it into an interactive web project.
How We Built It
We approached the project by focusing on the overall user experience first: how users enter the site, what catches their attention, and how visual elements can guide them through the experience.
We then built the website around the 3D concept, combining web development with interactive visual elements and animation. Throughout the process, we iterated on the design and interactions to find a balance between visual impact, usability, and performance.
What We Learned
One of the biggest lessons from building SuperCharge was that creating a good 3D experience involves much more than making something visually impressive.
We learned to think carefully about:
- How 3D elements affect the user's experience
- How animation can communicate rather than simply decorate
- The importance of performance when working with rich visual content
- How design, interaction, and development need to work together
- How to quickly experiment, test, and iterate during a hackathon
The project also gave us valuable experience turning an initial creative idea into a working web experience under a limited timeframe.
Challenges We Faced
Working with 3D on the web came with its own challenges. We had to think about how to make the experience visually engaging while keeping interactions smooth and the interface understandable.
Another challenge was making design decisions quickly. In a hackathon, there isn't unlimited time to explore every idea, so we had to prioritize the parts of the experience that mattered most and continuously refine them.
Balancing creativity, technical implementation, usability, and time constraints became one of the most important parts of the project.
What We’re Proud Of
SuperCharge represents our attempt to push beyond a conventional website and explore how 3D and interactive design can change the way people experience the web.
More than just building a functional project, we wanted to create something that demonstrates our curiosity, creativity, and willingness to experiment with new ways of presenting ideas online.
