Inspiration
The game is supposed to be about a thief breaking into a museum to steal the artifacts there, and return them to their place of origin. You have 90sec to 2min to steal 5 items (depending on the difficulty you choose), and as the game progresses, more and more guards appear and traps activate.
At least it was supposed to be...
What it does
We have the basic floor and walls of our environment, although without any textures, a player that can traverse the level in first person, and a gun that has a muzzle flash made using Unity's particle system.
We also have a basic enemy, a bot that will simply patrol the level until you run into its detection range. However, while it can find and follow the player, it can't actually do any damage.
How we built it
We built the game using Unity's engine, and made our own models using Blender.
Challenges we ran into
We also initially attempted to implement multiplayer, but gave up on that when we realized setting up a server would take up too much of our time.
We also underestimated the difficulty of making a 3D camera controller, which unfortunately ate up a lot of our time and sleep.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We did our first 3D game, yay! We're proud that we made our own models, and attempted to implement multiplayer, and a variety of other ambitious ideas, even if they never made it in.
What we learned
Don't be too ambitious. And get at least some sleep.
