SUPER COW

Inspiration

We were inspired by a study that was done about a way to combat the effect that the agricultural industry has on global warming.

What it does

Microbes inside a cow's stomach take carbon and hydrogen and turn them into methane. Asparagopsis contains bromoform. Bromoform stops these microbes from making methane limiting the amount of emission given by livestock. Cows that have eaten the seaweed also showed healthier pregnancies, produced more milk, and suffered less from certain diseases compared to the cows that didn't eat the seaweed. Our website is used to spread this information to livestock farmers hoping to get them to feed their animals asparagopsis. Eventually, our website will be used to obtain the seaweed for farmers to use.

How we built it

We created a website using Wix, as well as a variety of articles that we utilized for research.

Challenges we ran into

Collaborating virtually was a challenge at first because we had problems getting on the same page at the beginning. We eventually were able to use the virtual aspect as a boost, because of it we looked into sites we could all collaborate on at once, which allowed us to check our work with each other in an easier manner.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of how much we were able to accomplish in such a short period of time. None of us really had much experience in creating projects like this, so we were all able to learn a lot about what it takes to make a basic website. We also were able to learn a lot about a global issue that we were all passionate about.

What we learned

We learned how to collaborate on making a website with the help of Wix. We learned great strategies for comparing ideas and concepts to each other. When using Wix, we had a bit of a learning curve when we realized we would have to refresh whenever an edit was made by another person. We were proficient at delegating different parts of the project to those best suited, making us more efficient and productive because we were playing to each other's strengths.
