Inspiration
As we looked over the competition tracks, we thought about what we'd love to see in an app. When we read the color track, we instantly looked at our surroundings and saw how we have different sets of colors. Then, we thought about how those colors could lead to different interpretations and fit towards how people’s personal and social identities could be shaped by colors. The beginning ideas of the app came from the noticing of how social media platforms (such as Instagram) has created a performative culture--"Do I have the most aesthetically pleasing life?". We want to tackle that by creating an app where one takes photos for their own space to collect and reflect. Our hope is to decrease the sense of being performative when looking at one's life in photos. We found the idea of 'space' to perfectly utilize the theme of the galaxy/space. Our name itself encapsulates that. A super cluster is a cluster of galaxies, so each person has their own galaxies of colors and mended together to create the entire universe. Additionally, we used the study of Color Psychology and the current trend of Seasonal Analysis Color Theory as inspiration.
What it does
Currently, we only have the wireframe for an iOS app. We showcase the initial interface the user is presented with, then do a rundown of each tab and what features they have. We additionally have the transitions between each screen.
How we built it
We sketched out our wireframe on Microsoft Whiteboard. We thought about the best flow and most interactive for users.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge we ran into was coming up with the designs of our logo and icons that were unique to our idea and theme. We also struggled with coming up with a name suitable that encapsulates the purpose of our app. Additionally, coming up with the most smooth flow was something we struggled with as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the concept we came up with and tied it back to the theme of space because we wanted to show how universal our perceptions of colors are. We are also proud of the wireframes we made as it does a great job of describing the functionality of our app and its features.
What we learned
We learned how much thought it takes to create an app. There are so many little details to focus on because if one does not work, the rest fall through. Also, we have to consider not only how well the app functions but to make it visually understandable and interactive for the users to use.
What's next for Super Color Clusters
In the future, we plan to transfer our ideas onto Figma and develop out the designs of the app.
