Inspiration
I had the idea for a similar project when I was a freshman and was unable to execute on it as well as I would have liked. This is a ground-up rework of that idea into a website with hardware capabilities.
What it does
Optimize solar panels to ensure they are generating as much energy as possible throughout the day.
How we built it
The website was written with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Charts js, and PHP. The Arduino was programmed using the Arduino programming language
Challenges we ran into
Communicating from the website to the Arduino proved difficult as the code on the website had to send an electrical signal using a Serial connection.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Bringing the idea I had all those years ago to life was extremely satisfying for me both from an achievement level, and a testament to what I am capable of now that I could not have even attempted when I was a freshman.
What we learned
Hardware complicates everything and is extremely fun to work with at the same time. There is no greater feeling than pushing a button and watching something spring to life because of your work.
What's next for Suntrayce 2.0
A larger solar panel and some better motors.
