Inspiration

The slow transport modernization of PUV Tricycles in developing towns and cities in the Philippines and inability of many Local Government Units to implement the Clean Air Act of 1999 that bans 2-stroke engines in PUV Tricycles and motorbikes. The increasing cost of Health Hazards from Respiratory Diseases and Environmental damage due to TRAP (traffic related air pollutants) is of grave concern.

What it does

Upgrade and retrofit existing tricycles sidecars with electric motorcycles with comparable power rating of 8.5KW at 236km driving range of fully-charged electric motors (compared to 9.1KW on petrol 150cc four-stroke engines) and swappable battery infrastructure, IOT mobile apps, cloud computing platforms and flexible payment modes saves time, money and resources to all stakeholders.

How we built it

Using IOT Raspberry Pi, Standard 18650 lithium ion batteries, chargers, Android mobile application and Google Firebase Cloud Computing. We were able to simulate all functions of swappable batteries charging stations and their related Mobile Apps.

Challenges we ran into

Looking for P5 Million (Philippine Pesos) for SEED FUNDING towards production within 1.5 years. And B2G Funding Partners like Green Climate Fund in partnership with Local Government Unit at P15 Million (Philippine Pesos)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Best Thesis College level in Cagayan State University – College of Information & Computing Sciences June 2022.

  2. Top 20 Finalist for JumpStart 2021 Startups Innovation of Cagayan State University – BizNest incubation for Startups funded by the Philippines Department Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Information and Communication Technology and Department of Science and Technology.

  3. Top 10 out of 74 participants at ECOTHON 2022 held at Pasay City, Philippines sponsored by Philippines Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), South Korean Ministry of SME and Startups and Hanns Siedel Foundation of Germany. The event was managed by PhilDev.org founded by Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Diosdado Banatao.

What we learned

We learned that the value of life should be appreciated by creating sustainable and eco-friendly transport solutions for developing towns and cities. Reducing projected P6.3B (Philippine Pesos) for healthcare cost for Respiratory Disease within 3 years upon projected installation is the largest community benefit for all LGU Early Adaptors.

What's next for SUNDO

We are looking forward to partner with more LGU’s, B2G funding partners like Green Climate Fund and B2B funders for swappable batteries, Solar energy storage charging and Mobile Apps infrastructure.
