Inspiration
we want to create a self-serving mobile app that ensure accessible safety by relying on other users who use the app. looking at other apps on the market that serve people in urgent situations(noonlight) we realize there are several problems that may incur unintentionally. one is the emphasis on shying away from false alarms, which sometimes may just be a person thinking they are in danger but fortunately they are not, and they may end up with a bill in their mail box. two is, though there are terrible things happening every day that may involve dialing 911, not every uncomfortable situation may result in the need of a dispatcher.
What it does
a user sends help requests through mobile app in which other users that may accept the request and become the verifier. a user may send a request pre-event in which they may feel uncomfortable going in, and the verifier would fulfill the request by simply sending a text message to check whether the requestee is safe and okay. we hope to serve people who may not have direct emergency contacts in the vicinity and may need temporary help.
How we built it
figma - visualization. c++ - programming prototype
Challenges we ran into
we had to learn a lot more technology than we used to be familiar with and this is our team's first time trying to develop a mobile app. after we came up with a holistic structure of our mobile application, everything else was smooth.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
we are proud to learning UIUX design procedures and thinking about the implementations that it may have on our mobile app. we also looked at other applications in the market and we are glad to have come up with a solution that does the job.
What we learned
we learned to collaborate, divide, and conquer. we are also mostly proud to have made a lot of progress within the given 24 hours of time.
What's next for sun after dark
we are planning on developing this into an actual mobile app and to be released onto campuses. we will be turning it into ios application through swift.
