At BCIT and many other schools, students rely on Learning Hub as their central academic platform — yet it often feels more like a repository of files than a true hub of learning. We noticed that most course materials uploaded to Learning Hub — whether PDFs, Google Slides, or Word documents — are static and non-interactive. Students must download, open, and skim through dense files just to understand what’s expected of them. Important details like deadlines, instructions, or key concepts are buried in text, leaving students frustrated and disengaged. Our team wanted to ask a simple question:

What if Learning Hub could teach, not just store?

That question led to Summurai — an AI-powered Chrome extension designed to breathe life into existing learning materials. Instead of treating resources as passive files, Summurai uses Google Gemini AI to actively read, interpret, and summarize their content — right inside the browser. Whether it’s a long lecture slide, a confusing lab assignment, or a cluttered announcement, Summurai distills the essential information into short, understandable summaries. This makes learning more interactive, accessible, and efficient. It’s not about replacing instructors — it’s about amplifying understanding. We believe that with AI, digital learning spaces can evolve from file dumps into learning companions — and Summurai is our first step in making that transformation happen.

Would you like me to make this version more concise and marketing-style (for slides or hackathon submission forms), or keep it in this narrative tone for your README file?
