Suminagashi VR is a virtual reality experience that brings the ancient Japanese art of marbling ink on water into immersive 3D. Using the Logitech VR Pen with the Quest 3, users can intuitively paint and manipulate ink on a virtual water surface, creating mesmerizing patterns that respond to fluid dynamics in real time. Inspiration I’ve always been fascinated by Suminagashi, an art form where delicate ink patterns float on water, each swirl unpredictable and unique. I wanted to combine traditional art with cutting-edge VR technology, giving users a meditative, hands-on experience that could only exist in a virtual environment. The idea of using a VR pen came naturally: instead of controllers, the pen allows fine, precise movements that mimic the motion of dipping ink onto water. The goal was to capture the tactile feel of marbling in a way that feels natural and engaging in VR. Learning Journey This project taught me a lot about fluid simulations, VR interactions, and real-time rendering.
Please note project doesn't exist yet I want to implement it if this idea goes through selection stage
