Inspiration

We wanted a way to stay in touch with friends without the pressure of daily updates. Many of us had lost contact, and a weekly format felt perfect for sharing highlights and reconnecting. When TikTok started facing bans, it inspired us to create Sum-Up Sundae—a fun, interactive way to keep friendships alive through quick, weekly video updates.

What it does

Sum-Up Sundae lets users upload a short video to their group once a week, every Sunday. Groups of friends can consistently share and watch each other’s weekly updates, making it easy to stay connected. Users can join existing groups or create new ones, then record and enjoy everyone's highlights together.

How we built it

  • Frontend: React, Tailwind CSS, and MUI for layout and styles.
  • Backend: Node.js, Express, and MongoDB for data storage.
  • Livepeer: Integration for video streaming and handling.

Challenges we ran into

  • Ensuring smooth group joining mechanics.
