Inspiration
While preparing for our semester exams, we were required to go through all the articles shared by our teachers. Being short of time, we often scramble in and out of the articles, affecting our efficiency of revision. So, we came up with an idea. Something that could generate a summary and precise points from the article for last-minute revision.
What it does
The project takes in a website link and generates the summary from it.
How we built it
We built it using OpenAI API and using react and javascript. And for styling, we used tailwind css.
Challenges we ran into
While making our project, we ran into two major issues. First one is how to make the UI super-intuitive so that there are no distracting elements present, and the other being the hosting of the project via Netlify.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very happy to create a project that could help us students save a lot of time during our revision for exams. Not just us, but anyone preparing for exams, and even looking to get a context of an article, can use this.
What we learned
During our journey of making the project, we learnt the potential of things that AI can do for us. Also, we learnt how to deploy projects to cloud-based servers.
What's next for Sum It AI
In the future, Sum It AI will be able to summarize not just from websites and articles but also from PDFs and documents uploaded by the user, making it more versatile.
