Inspiration
Sugar Lift was inspired by a first-person viewpoint of a Type 1 Diabetic who is discouraged from exercising because of the sheer difficulty of controlling Blood Glucose during varying exercises.
What it does
Provides Diabetics with specific, research-backed recommendations on controlling their Blood Glucose during any exercise using live Blood Glucose data.
How we built it
We built a Web App that collates a recommendation system and a chart to view Blood Glucose data by connecting to a user's Dexcom, a live glucose monitor.
Challenges we ran into
The Dexcom API was recently updated to V2, which altered a lot of the GET requests and information available.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of providing Diabetics with an easier opportunity to exercise, which is especially important for Type 1 Diabetics because it trains their body to be more sensitive to insulin after many workouts, which allows for easier control of your Blood Glucose.
What we learned
We learned of the varying effects of aerobic and anaerobic exercise on Blood Glucose and the process of building an organized Web App.
What's next for Sugar Lift
Using Machine Learning to make future recommendations on controlling Blood Glucose more accurately and with increased personalization.
