Inspiration

Sudoku Space Jams was inspired by our shared love for puzzle games, music, and immersive virtual experiences. We wanted to create a world that felt relaxing yet exciting—a place where players could challenge their minds while vibing to great music in a colorful, futuristic space environment. Our goal was to turn a classic brain game into a social, high-energy experience.

What it does

Sudoku Space Jams is a virtual puzzle world where players can solve Sudoku boards while surrounded by a vibrant space-themed atmosphere and high-quality music. Players can jump in solo or alongside others, enjoy chill beats or energetic tracks, and fully immerse themselves in a relaxing but mentally stimulating gameplay experience.

How we built it

We built Sudoku Space Jams inside Meta Horizon Worlds using custom scripting, interactive UI panels, and optimized 3D assets. One of us focused heavily on the technical side—scripting, UI behavior, and game logic—while the other shaped the world’s creative direction, including the visual theme, music integration, and player experience flow. Together, we tested, refined, and balanced performance so it would run smoothly on both mobile and VR.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was optimizing performance while running a game, music, and a visually rich environment at the same time. We also faced challenges with UI responsiveness, syncing interactions across players, and ensuring the Sudoku mechanics worked cleanly without bugs. Balancing creativity with technical limitations was a constant learning curve.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re especially proud of creating a fully playable Sudoku experience inside a social VR environment. Integrating music, atmosphere, and puzzle gameplay into one smooth experience was a huge win for us. We’re also proud of how accessible the world is—players of all skill levels can jump in, relax, and enjoy the vibe.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned a lot about performance optimization, UI design, player interaction flow, and collaborative development. Working as a team taught us how to balance technical execution with creative vision, communicate clearly, and stay flexible when things didn’t go as planned.

What’s next for Sudoku Space Jams

Next, we plan to add more board variations, difficulty levels, seasonal music themes, multiplayer features, and event-based competitions. We also want to expand the visual environments with new space biomes and interactive effects to keep the experience fresh and exciting for returning players.
