Inspiration

The idea for the Sudoku App came from a desire to bring quick, brain-boosting fun to Reddit users in a lightweight and social way. I wanted to offer something familiar—like Sudoku—but with a twist of accessibility and community interaction.

What it does

The Sudoku App is a simple, shareable puzzle game. It offers three difficulty levels—Easy, Medium, and Hard. There's also a special Quiz Mode, designed for quick play, where users guess just 5 missing numbers from a partially filled board—perfect for bite-sized mental challenges. Players can also generate and share Game IDs to challenge their friends.

How we built it

Using devvit, blocks & AI help to keep code clean.

Challenges we ran into

Keeping server in sync with client side code. There were challenges in saving game state as well as saved information is not readily available.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A successful completion. The Quiz Mode turned out to be a favorite during testing, as it strikes a great balance between challenge and quick-play. I am also happy with the community-driven sharing concept via Game IDs, which adds a fun and social layer to the experience.

What we learned

  1. How to make reddit app
  2. How to use reddit storage
  3. How server function works with reddit
  4. Will be able to make better games and app going forward

What's next for Sudoku App

  1. Add leaderboards based on time it took to solve the puzzle
  2. Add flair rewards or subreddit-based tournaments.
