SubtleSense is an AI-powered emotion intelligence platform designed to help users understand not only the emotions they express, but also those they subconsciously suppress or conceal. 🧠💭

The application offers basic emotion analysis to free users, enabling them to gain initial insights into their emotional patterns. Upon signing in, users unlock a suite of advanced, personalized features, including:

🎨 A customized moodboard reflecting emotional trends 📈 An emotion timeline with graphical insights 📓 A private journaling space for guided self-reflection 📅 Weekly emotional reports summarizing behavioral patterns 🌙 Dark/Light mode customization for enhanced user experience 👤 Profile personalization for a more tailored interface

Together, these features empower users to build deeper emotional awareness and develop a more nuanced understanding of their inner world.

🛠️ How We Built It

The development of SubtleSense began as a web-based application using Lovable.dev, and was later successfully transitioned into an Android application through Median.co. 📱

At its core, the platform integrates Google Gemini’s multimodal AI capabilities, enabling advanced analysis of both facial micro-expressions and vocal tone. 🎭🎙️

The technology stack includes:

⚛️ React + TypeScript for a robust frontend architecture 🎨 Tailwind CSS for efficient and responsive UI design 🗄️ Supabase for backend services and data handling 🔐 Client-side processing to ensure strong user privacy and data security

This combination allows for a seamless, secure, and intelligent user experience.

⚡ Challenges

The development journey involved several key challenges:

🧩 Resolving API-related issues, particularly with JSON parsing errors 📉 Addressing low initial user sign-up rates and improving onboarding appeal 🎓 Effectively balancing development alongside academic responsibilities during 12th grade

Each of these challenges contributed to refining both the technical and strategic aspects of the platform.

🚀 What’s Next

SubtleSense is scheduled for its official Android launch on May 16, 2026. 📅🎉

Post-launch, the primary focus will be on:

🔄 Enhancing user retention, particularly through the Journal and weekly reports 🌍 Expanding accessibility to make emotional self-awareness tools more widely available 📊 Continuously improving AI-driven insights for greater personalization and accuracy
