Inspiration

Finding a sublet or renting out a space has always been a challenge for UW warriors, often requiring hours of searching through outdated listings or dealing with complicated processes. SubletConnect was born out of a desire to simplify this process, connecting tenants and landlords seamlessly on a reliable platform.

What it does

SubletConnect allows users to:

  • Browse available sublets with detailed information and images.
  • Post listings easily with just a few required inputs.
  • View additional details like landlord contact information and special instructions, ensuring transparency and trust.

How we built it

We built SubletConnect using:

  • Front-end: React.js, Node.js, Tailwind CSS, UI libraries
  • Back-end: Express.js, API, PostgreSQL
  • GitHub

Challenges we ran into

  • First time hacking, we struggled to come up with an idea. Also, we lost two teammates, hence we had to decide to scale down the idea to make it simpler but still effective.
  • Managing dynamic state updates for listings and user interactions.
  • We had troubles with the back-end and databases as this is out first time working closely with them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Interactive web pages!
  • Implemented dynamic, user-friendly features such as posting listings, viewing details, and navigating seamlessly!

What we learned

  • Focusing on user experience to design features that simplify processes.
  • Collaborating on a project that solves real-world problems.

What's next for SubletConnect

  • Integrate advanced filtering and search options for listings.
  • Expand features to include direct messaging between landlords and tenants.
