CONFIRMATION: We are an officially registered team for Melbourne Hack 2021 Selena Lee Harrison Langdon Jian Pan Eszter Langdon

Disclaimer! This project was started on 20th August before the opening ceremony.

Our project focuses on the Education stream, by focusing on the University of Melbourne's subjects and finds possible prerequisites for subjects and majors. Often University of Melbourne students have to have map out all possible prerequisites and pathways to find if they would be eligible for the subject. However, with this, you would able to quickly determine which subjects are required, just by inputting the subject code.

Our program first runs through the University of Melbourne handbook (https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/search) and attempts to find all undergraduate subjects and move all their properties in a dataframe, storing their subject code, subject name, prerequisites, co requisites, availability, and non-allowed subjects. Then it asks for the user to import 1 of 3 options: 1. input a third year subject to find all possible prerequisites 2. input a Univeristy of Melbourne undergraduate degree and major to find all possible prerequisites 3. input a subject and semester taken (if need) to find all possible future subjects) and depending on the option chosen, more inputs by the user would be needed to determine the outcome.

Some challenges we faced were communicating via an online platform, which delayed some idea solutions. Because the whole Hackathon was online, being able to check in with other team mates and discuss issues, was delayed, as well as coming up with efficient ways to tackle the problem. This resulted in lots of individual tasks, with little melding together of ideas.
