Sub-Scramble

Inspiration

I love to play word games. And have been on Reddit for some time now (guilty 😋). What I find fascinating is how there is a subreddit for almost every topic imaginable. Its really interesting how we can form groups and share our interests. That's what inspired me to create this app. When I found out about this challenge, I got really excited to create something based on this fact.

What it does

The app is a word game based on Reddit's interactive post. Player gets scrambled letters and an image icon as a clue. Player needs to guess the name of the subreddit correctly.

How we built it

The application is based on Webview feature in devvit. The app primarily uses devvit platform, redis, html,css and jsvascript.

Challenges we ran into

Figuring out Reddit Interactive post framework was itself a challenge as I have absolutely no experience with it prior to this project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As I found out about the hackathon at the last moment, learning about devvit, Reddit api and completing the whole project in a short time was really difficult. I'm happy I could finish it within deadline.

What we learned

Learned about Reddit's interactive posts and I am excited to build more such apps. I already have couple of ideas ready.

What's next for Sub-Scramble

I am actively working on making the application available for other subreddits on Reddit. Currently I am focusing on getting more users to play the game.
